This website has been prepared by ABPmer with the support of CCPEM, ComCoast and CEH. The database was developed because ABPmer and the rest of the team recognised a need to have an integrated and single information source. There have been no previous attempts to do this on such a scale, although there are a lot of individual sources of information and guidance (see ‘Library and links' in menu). The project team believe that a complete and updatable database will greatly assist those working on future projects and will greatly accelerate and aid both the learning process and the process of public communication on future projects. The starting point for the database involved the integration of existing summary tables that were produced during PhD studies by Susanne Armstrong (née Rupp) (then working with Prof. Robert Nicholls at CCPEM) and Mineke Wolters (working with Angus Garbutt at CEH). ABPmer have since populated, and greatly enhanced, these tables following a series of literature reviews and consultations. In particular, we have included the lessons learned, added grid references and linked the information to Google Maps. Valuable input has also been received from Mark Dixon (RSPB) and Roger Morris (Natural England). ABPmer would like to express their gratitude to the abovementioned persons, and the numerous realignment project managers who kindly provided information for this database. |
