The Scoping Guidance Tool - Overview
Please use this page to navigate through the scoping assessment. Click on the yellow buttons to go to the information entering sections. In each case information can be entered in text form (Max: 4000 characters) and/or through the interrogation of the supporting databases.
To show what information is required in each case, just hover the cursor over the yellow buttons, the requirements are shown to the right.

1. Enter a one line summary or ‘title’ for the work that is proposed along with information about the project’s objective.

2. Describe the individual activities involved in the proposal.
- 3. Interrogate the database to select the individual activities. The database then identifies the potential environmental changes arising. Quantify these environmental changes as far as is possible at this stage.

4. Identify the designated Natura 2000 sites that are present and list their interest features.
- 5. Identify the Natura 2000 features that are sensitive to the proposed activity and their likely environmental changes.
- 6. Determine whether features are going to be exposed to an environmental change to which they are sensitive.
- 7. Identify those features which will not be exposed to environmental change or are not sensitive to any of the changes. Include consideration of any mitigation measures.
- 8. Identify those features that need to be considered further because they are sensitive to, and exposed to, an environmental change.
- 9. Identify the impact assessment methods that are most appropriate.
