SECTION 7 - Identify those features which will not be exposed to environmental change, or are not sensitive to any of the changes. << Prev Next >>
Section
- Based on the review made in Section 6, confirm here the features which will not be exposed to a change to which they are sensitive and therefore represent impact pathways that do not need to be considered further.
- Include consideration of any mitigation measures that can be integrated into the proposal at this stage to remove an impact pathway. For instance, if construction work can be confined to the summer months and impacts to overwintering birds from construction disturbance can be avoided.
Tips
- This section involves adding information to the text box to confirm and clarify the decisions made in Section 6 although any deletions can be made on a hard copy print out of the change/feature table.
- See the Grey ‘Case Study’ tab for some examples
Case Study 1
Seaforth River Terminal - Mersey Estuary UK
At this stage no features can be excluded beyond those already removed in previous Sections. However, no significant impacts from emissions to air are expected given that there will only be a minor change to the presently high levels of vessel navigation in the estuary. Light pollution effect can also be removed as the dock construction area is not directly adjacent to the designated sites and thus there will be no impacts pathway.
All other pathways should be considered and no specific mitigation measures can be identified yet. For instance, the construction work will carry on for 2.5 years and therefore the work cannot be confined to the summer and the impacts to overwintering birds from construction disturbance need to be considered.
In terms of the potential indirect physical effects of the scheme, any opportunities for mitigation will only become clear once the baseline hydrodynamic/sedimentary environment is better understood and when the scale and characteristics of the impacts are known.
